We are excited to announce the next edition of our International Workshop series, featuring Daniil Nikulin! Join us for a weekend of learning and inspiration as Daniil shares his expertise in Solo Jazz and Lindy Hop with our community.

 

About Daniil Nikulin

Daniil is one of the most renowned contemporary swing dancers and a celebrated international instructor. With over fourteen years of experience, he has gained recognition for his fresh approach to authentic Jazz dances. Daniil has won numerous Solo Jazz and Lindy Hop competitions, and has taught in over 23 countries. His philosophy: „I prefer to dance the music, not the style first.“ This mindset shapes Daniil’s dynamic and expressive style, drawing inspiration from a wide variety of dance forms while staying deeply connected to the music.

Friday, 20th June

17:00-19:15: Dance Teachers + Invitational: Ideas and approaches in the art of learning and teaching Lindy Hop & Jazz

Discover different approaches of teaching and practicing swing dances in an interactive format. Pros and cons of different pedagogies, staying culturally accurate and the end goals of teaching.

Saturday, 21st June

11:00-13:15: Solo Jazz Advanced: improvisation through phrasing

Dive into Solo Jazz with a focus on musicality and phrasing. Learn to express yourself more freely through telling a story with your dance.

15:30-17:45: Lindy Hop Advanced: individual expression, the music and the partnership

Work on refining your Lindy Hop skills, focusing on partner connection, fluid movement, and connecting to the music.

Sunday, 22nd June

11:00-13:15: Lindy Hop Intermediate & Int-Adv: Musicality and Play

Enhance your partner work by understanding what is your part of the teamwork. Musicality, play and freedom of expression within the flow of the couple dance.

14:30-16:45: Solo Jazz Intermediate+: “Waiting on the Champagne”

“All you need” class for all levels — phrasing, vocabulary, transitions, improvisation and a sequence, all to an amazing tune by Ben Webster and Johnny Hodges.

To avoid frustration for yourself and among the participants, please sign up only for classes for which you meet the requirements.

Requirements:
  • Basic Lindy Hop moves and rhythms (6-count moves, 8-count moves, Lindy Charleston) can be danced to convenient tempos.
  • You feel comfortable with simple routines.
  • You regularly attend social dancing events.
Requirements:
  • High confidence in basic and intermediate Lindy Hop rhythms and moves.
  • Comfortable dancing to a variety of tempos.
  • You have been dancing for at least 2 years.
Requirements:
  • You regularly work on fine-tuning your basics, complex rhythms, and partnering technique.

  • You are able to interpret different styles of music and express them in your dancing.

  • Fast tempos don’t scare you.

  • You have been dancing and practicing regularly for about 3-10 years.

Requirements:
  • Participation is by invitation OR:
  • You have a record in competitive dancing and/or teaching Lindy Hop.
  • So if you’re a local teacher you’re automatically invited
