The Facts:

- # The maximum of participants is limited, therefore we ask to register only if you are committed to coming to the classes and you have a deep interest in dancing with Alina.
- # All classes will take place at Festsaal of CVJM – Wien, Kenyongasse 15, 1070 Wien ( 100m² dance floor and a 6m mirror wall!!)
- # All classes are solo dance classes so no partner required for registration
- # The Early-Bird-Registration opens on Monday, 15th of February at 00:01 AM (Save the date!) and goes till March 15th.
- # The Early-Bird-Price per 8-week-class is € 135,- after March 15th (Lazy Bird) the Price per 8-week-class is 165,-
- # We recommend the “Double DIR# me!” and the “Triple DIR# me!!” Packages with a discount up to 150,- of the regular price.
#VERNACULAR JAZZ AND BLUES

About:
This course focuses on the vernacular styles danced in America from the turn of the 20th century until the mid 1940s: from Cakewalks, Charleston, Blues, Jazz steps and Swing up to the beginning of the Bebop era. Alina will work with you on steps, basic jazz and blues rhythms, body movement, attitude and improvisation. For all the people out there who love solo dancing and want to take their physical and conceptual understanding of movement to a new level…authentic style! Requirements:
This class is open to everyone. You bring motivation to work hard during the courses and practice outside of class. The tempo will be suited to the group’s needs.

#PERFORMANCE

As an experienced dancer, you know that dancing is performing. In this course, Alina will work with you on the choreographing of vernacular jazz styles and teach you how to use your improvisation skills to fit a show setting. You will learn how to apply your knowledge of authentic jazz dances to develop a unique performance and you will have the opportunity to dance it for a big audience at the final party of the DIR#5 programme. https://youtu.be/nj6-G908tCM
Requirements:
This class is open to intermediate or advanced Solo Jazz dancers or alternatively dancers with experience in other similar dance styles. You have to be willing to practice between the classes and do extra rehearsals for the show.

#BEBOP STYLES
April 13th – June 1st (8 x 75 Minutes)

About:
Get a new(er) perspective on your dancing! This course focuses on post-war, post-swing, non-mainstream styles of jazz dance: the BEBOP! Here, Alina will touch upon authentic American Bebop styles of the 1940s. You will discover how to improvise to more complicated jazz rhythms and phrasings and learn how to speed up your dancing while making it look easy and stylish at the same time: https://youtu.be/lb8GG6O8hlI . #MASTERCLASS

In this course, you will have the possibility to work with Alina in a focused group at a high-tempo. The masterclass format allows you to make best use of all the resources Alina brings with her as a dancer and choreographer in order to take your individual style of dancing to another level. Learn about unexpected and original ways to shine on the dancefloor, in competitions and get innovative ideas for your choreographies. Digging into all the styles Alina teaches, from Afro Roots to an extensive coverage of Vernacular styles and Bebop, will give you the possibility to work on your quality of movement and add a whole new range of dance choices to your repertoire.
Requirements:
You are an advanced Solo Jazz dancer or advanced professional dancer in another discipline. You are used to focused work at a high tempo in and outside class.

#AFRO ROOTS

Gettn’ up and lowdown to the Afro roots of jazz culture: In this course Alina will teach you Afro-Cuban folk dances, Orishas of Yoruba tradition, about the Arará tradition and Palo as well as the basics of Afro-Cuban rumba. If you don’t know, what most of these are but get excited just reading about them, this course is for you. The main aim of the classes is to develop the plasticity of your body, learn basic Afro steps of the above-mentioned national dance styles and apply this feeling to your jazz dance. #FOLLOWER’S CHOICE

About:
It is no longer a secret that the follower doesn’t exclusively depend on the leader and has many opportunities for expressing his or her individuality. Developing and shaping this dance identity is the focus of this course: practicing basic rhythm variations and footwork that doesn’t depend on the lead but are the followers personal choice during couple dancing.
