#Solo Jazz Performance Track
April 11th – May 30th (8 x 75 Minutes)
Tuesdays: 20:15 – 21:30
About:
For this class, Gil and Suyeon will develop a Solo Jazz routine which they will teach and rehearse with you over the 8 weeks to perform it at the farewell party for a live audience and for youtube eternity. The choreography will include complex moves and teach you how to transition between them and help you improve the ones that you already know. Working on your understanding of a choreography will allow you to make a crucial step forward in your dancing as it offers you the chance to embrace the performative aspects of dance and gives you a deeper understanding of how to interpret the music you hear and how to carry yourself with an audience and your entire group in mind.
Requirements:
This class is open to intermediate up to advanced Solo Jazz dancers or alternatively dancers with the experience of dancing routines in similar dance styles. Knowing some of the classic Solo Jazz routines like the Shim Sham, Big Apple, Tranky Doo, etc. is definitely helpful. The pace of this class will be fast so you have to be willing to practice between classes and rehearse for the show on your own.(Performance date: June 3rd).
